FINALLY - A FEW PERSONAL VIEWPOINTS
As the citizens of a democratic country we would like to be considered as that, but this is Great Britain and we are not citizens of our own land but subjects of an unelected Head of State - The Monarch.
To our mind, in the 21stC, there should be no place for a Monarchy, “Constitutional” or otherwise in a truly free and democratic system.
As if this was imposition was not enough we are burdened with the most sycophantic garbage ever written as a national anthem - one that does not even mention the country that it purports to represent!
If, as a citizen of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, you feel similarly then may we invite you to visit the

SHIRLEY ANN SMITH July 27th, 1942 - July 25th, 2007
Shirley had suffered from ill health for a number of years but it came as a great shock to me and her family when she died suddenly from a combination of Chronic obstructive airways disease and Pneumonia on the morning of July 25th, 2007. Although greatly hindered she proved to be a wonderful inspiration, helper, ally and my very best friend and we had some wonderful years together during which we were able to combine our energies in writing books.
We travelled the country sourcing information and I know that she particularly loved the Class 37 locomotives so it is with a real sense of pride that I can now see her name emblazoned on the side of one of these engines.
Thanks to the warm-heartedness and generosity of Les Emery, owner of No.37219, this now carries the name “Shirley Ann Smith” and can be seen working on the Chinnor and Princes Risborough Railway
