BR DEPARTMENTAL DEPOTS & STABLING POINTS
The Ex-LNER Class B1 4-6-0 Departmental Locomotives
INCLUDING OPERATING LOCATIONS & SERVICING
FACILITIES
Although officially moved to Canklow MPD from Langwith Junction MPD as No.61050 when the shed closed on February 6th, 1966 evidence suggests that the locomotive had already been based at Canklow MPD from October 1965 and employed on carriage heating in Sheffield at Heeley and Nunnery Sidings. It was withdrawn from normal service on February 10th, 1966, transferred to Departmental Stock as No.30 and re-allocated to Barrow Hill MPD when Canklow MPD closed totally in September 1966. The engine ran light engine between duties to take water at Rotherham Masborough and coal at Royston and, later, Normanton MPDs and was last used in December 1967 when it ran a hot box and was withdrawn in April 1968. Along with No.32 it was towed in August to the 1968 Derby Works Open Day for display on August 24th and remained stored at Derby MPD until sold for scrap to W Hesslewood of Sheffield in September 1968. It was cut up in the following month.
