The production of granite ballast commenced in 1895 and the site was modernized and enlarged by the SR in 1933. A figure of eight 2ft gauge system was installed in the quarry.
Facilities;
A corrugated iron clad 1TS dead ended shed on a timber frame with a corrugated iron gable-style roof was provided by the SR for the standard gauge loco. Located at SX56699258 it was rebuilt by BR in concrete blocks with a flat roof.
